BIO OPTION 3 ( SPEAKER: HEALING / RECOVERY / TRAUMA)
Kate White is a recording artist, speaker, worship leader, nationally acclaimed songwriter and violinist. Kate tours regionally with her band and nationally as a solo artist and speaker. She is the Founder of Music That Matters, an organization dedicated to bringing hope to the hurting. As a trauma survivor Kate began songwriting as a way to help process her own healing journey. 15 years later, Kate’s 7th album, Six Feet Down, has synthesized her deeper understanding of trauma and what it takes to authentically walk the healing road back to wholeness with lyrics and music that help give a voice to the voiceless, and strength for the journey.
What people are saying about Kate and Six Feet Down:
“I’ve been arguing with my therapist about his diagnosis of DID for 2 months. I’ve been listening to your CD nonstop since your concert and your songs are helping me to make peace with my journey and that I’m going to be okay…” Survivor, CA
“The CD is very rich. It speaks to so many areas, so many. I am still absorbing what I heard. Thank you so much.” Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), WA. LPN, MA specialty: Trauma Survivors, DID, Anxiety and Depression.
OPTION 4 (COMPLETE)
“For as long as I can remember, music has been an extension of my soul - a way to express my heart, to heal, to encourage others, to ‘speak’ truth in a song that can break through the walls around someone’s heart and let them know they are loved and that they matter.”
From her early roots playing bluegrass in her family band, to her infusion into folk/pop, celtic and country, Kate’s heart for organic grown and ambient infused arrangements continue to move her music and the message behind it forward.
Eight records in, Rise Up, Kate’s latest project and second release on the Responding Records label, is a full worship album combining the best of Kate’s folk influences with an indie / pop feel that is sure to bring a fresh sound to mainstream worship music.
Kate says, “The songs on this record truly reflect a sense of gratitude and celebration rising up out of the ashes. The struggle is real, but there is a joy that rises up from the rubble and makes something utterly beautiful and profound out of our lives when as we are faithful. May these songs bring a new intimacy and power to your walk with Jesus! And may they remind you of the freedom we have and the rest He has promised.”
Six Feet Down, released on The Responding Records label, has an Allison Krauss / Robert Plant ‘Rising Sands’ vibe with some Civil Wars mixed in. Rooted in her own story, this album authentically covers deeper struggles of life, yet lifts to a hopeful conclusion.
Kate shares, “The message of this project weaves through the deeper brokenness of our lives and gives a voice to subjects that music often dances around but never fully addresses. The beauty of it is it's specific and illusive at the same time. It calls you out if you've lied and cheated your way through life, yet it gives you a voice if you've never been heard. It’s my prayer that this CD will give hope to those who are on both sides of an offense and strengthen all of us to move toward truth and wholeness.”
Kate is also a sought after speaker, something she would say pursued her…”I didn’t start off thinking I would be an artist and a speaker, but it grew naturally out of our events. I often share stories in our concerts, stories behind the songs, the brokenness I’ve walked through or the deeper truths God is revealing to me as I grow and heal in my own life. I long to see people living balanced lives and pressing into God’s rest and mystery. Many of us are running hard, too busy to slow down. Sometimes that’s just life getting away from us, but often it can be a way to avoid what we’ve pushed down for too long - wounds, longings, disappointment, fear. God knows it all and longs to draw us close…” Kate speaks from an honest place about life, love, humility and surrender.
